Creating “Practical” Inspiration

Nearly every bride out there has a pinterest board dedicated to their wedding, likely more than one! Me personally? I’ve got one for every aspect of my wedding: attire, florals, decor, aesthetics, just to name a few. Fact of the matter is, every bride needs to find their inspiration and find things that showcase what they’d like for their wedding.

So what’s the problem?

The problem with pinterest is that everything is so done up in those images you’re pinning. While they look incredibly beautiful, that incredible beauty comes at a cost.

So how do I, as a bride, get around these high expectations?

There’s a few things you can do to avoid outrageously high expectations:

  1. Work with local experts. Let the expert help form your vision! Rather than going to a hair and makeup artist with a very specific vision of what you want, go in with a general idea and let the artist do her job and design something specifically for you! You may have a pinterest board dedicated to a specific style of up-do, but it may not work with your hair type and that’s where an expert comes in handy.
  2. Remind yourself of reality. Remind yourself when you’re looking at wedding decor that you’re not paying tens of thousands of dollars solely on your decor, unless you are, but most brides can’t afford that. Remind yourself that what you’re viewing online are just ideas and that there are usually more inexpensive ways to do it with it still looking beautiful!
  3. Work with a wedding planner! Planner’s not only can help refine your vision, but they’ve done this before, so they’ve got some tricks up their sleeves for how to make things happen within spending like you’ve recently won the lottery. And above all else, planners have the connections you want with established vendors, usually at a discount!

So don’t feel discouraged if your pinterest board doesn’t come to life on the day of your wedding the way you think it might. Remember what the most important thing on your wedding day is: Marrying the person of your dreams. As for the rest, let an expert like me take on that other stress so you can enjoy your day!

With love,
